Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
