Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
